The Healthy Ohana Foundation was formed to educate the public on the vital importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle. The founding members have vast experience in the health and wellness industry and intend to share their knowledge to help people live healthier, more sustainable lives.

There is a growing body of evidence indicating that many of today’s major illnesses such as heart disease, obesity and types of diabetes can be prevented or reversed with appropriate changes to our lifestyle, including eating more plant-based foods. We advocate a seed to table approach to food. Eating local and organically when possible.

The social cost of these illnesses is staggering. Not only when you consider the cost to the individuals and families affected, but the social cost to our healthcare system as a whole. Every major health organization recommends eating more fresh fruits and vegetables to prevent illness. Many people want to eat healthier but are not sure how. The Healthy Ohana Foundation empowers individuals to make food choices that are best for them and their families.

In addition to an emphasis on health education, Healthy Ohana Foundation educates on the environmental impact of our food choices. There is a growing consensus that including more plant-based foods in our diet is one of the best ways we can conserve the Earth’s resources.

Ohana means 'family' in Hawaiian. Many use ohana in a broader sense that includes members of the community as well as direct relatives. The Healthy Ohana Foundation has this broader usage in mind as we seek to create a healthier world community.
